Dr. George R. Vito is a graduate of the Iowa College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. After receiving his medical degree, he completed a three-year postgraduate residency training program in medicine and reconstructive surgery of the foot, ankle, and leg at Northlake Regional Medical Center in Tucker, Georgia. Dr. Vito is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is actively involved in continuing education programs and is the author of numerous articles and chapters in professional journals and textbooks both in the United States and abroad. Dr. Vito is specially trained in foot and ankle reconstruction ranging from Charcot reconstruction to leg lengthening procedures. Dr. Vito has had extensive training in the United States, Europe, and Russia in microvascular reconstruction and the Ilizarov Technique of leg lengthening and reconstruction. The Ilizarov Technique involves the use of circular external frames for foot, ankle and leg reconstruction. Dr. Vito is also a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association. |
