Question:
What would be the likely cause of a bone spur on the big toe under the toenail? I injured the toenail lifting it from the nailbed and was wondering if the spur was a direct result.

Doctor's Reply:

It is likely that the spur is a result of your injury. These can also occur without apparent injury. Injury can cause the bone to react and slowly enlarge.
