Plantar Wart

February 23, 2001

Question:
What type of a wart is verruca,palmo-plantarls type. I just had a large 1/2 inch deep wart that was about 1/8 " deep removed from the bottom of my foot and I am now recovering. What type of a wart is this? Biopsy was negative

Doctor's Reply:
Verruca are warts that are cause by a viral infection of the skin. The expanded name represents the location of the wart. The bottom of the foot is called the plantar aspect of the foot (Palm of the hand) Thus the name. Verruca can mimic certain skin cancers. A negative biopsy means it is not a skin cancer.
